Why you should pay dues:
* This meetup site costs $12 a month
* We need some sort of banner(s) or sign(s) to display at our dives to make it easier for you to find us and for others to see we exist.
* Depending on left over dues amount. The money will be put towards an annual barbecue or picnic of some sort.

Why you should pay this late in the year:
* I paid the meetup site fees out of pocket this year, so there would be up to $72 reimbursement to me for May 09 to Oct 09 fees.
* The $72 meetup fees for Nov 09 to Apr 2010 will be due soon.
* To buy at least one banner for our group to use at event(s) the rest of this year.

How will you know where the money is being used:
* I've set the Money area of our meetup to be public, so you can see exactly where the money is coming in and going.
* If dues money is spent in any way, there will be a transaction added to the Money indicating when and why.
* FYI. Paypal will charge us a small fee for each transaction. So though you'd give us $15, I believe we'll only see $14.57 of it. (2.9% or so)

Regards,
Kevin

I know some of you will go. $15 times 133 divers. that is close to 2 grand.
But honestly, I don't expect everyone to pay dues.

The rules I didn't out line in the email.
* If you show up to a non meeting event, you are expected to pay the dues.
* Our monthly social meetings are there so people can meet each other. A chance to get to know those in the group. So I won't require you to pay dues if you come to a meeting but never a non meeting event.
* If you come to a non meeting event, and you haven't paid dues for the year yet; then you have 1-2 months to pay those dues. Failure to pay dues will cause you to be removed from group.

Question:
And what are the options for those of us without PayPal?

I'd rather everyone used Paypal to pay their dues, since most of the book work gets done automatically. But since not every one can, I will buy a receipt book to take with me to meetings and events. Where people can pay their dues. Then I will manually add the transactions to the meetup site.

Question: How long are the dues we pay before the end of 2009 good for?

Answer: Through December 2010.

Question: Are there any freebie's if we pay the dues?

Answer: The questioners idea of allowing dues payers to choose a Title if they wish. Any title that isn't offensive to me at time of asking. With the understanding that if someone later is able to prove to me a given title is offensive will get it removed.

Question: Why do some people's dues paid show $14.26 and others an even $15?

Answer: Paypal charges a small fee to handle such transactions. So $0.74 went to Paypal. Quite a racket. ;) The even $15 comes from people paying me in person when they see me.
(Though the $0.74 adds up; I still prefer y'all use that method since it is all automatic. While handing me $15 I have to match that up to a name on meetup manually. Call me lazy.)
